Early Valentines Dinner

Last night, we ate at a local favorite, J. Alexanders. Sandy gave us a $50 gift card for Christmas. We were planning on using it for Valentines Day, but we couldn't wait that long. I had a wonderful prime rib! Yummy. Kacey had a very nice salad. Today will be spent putting the final touches on the baby room! Kacey ordered some fitted sheets for the crib. I just need to lower the mattress down, he is already so big! Can't wait to get him home!!!

Kac and I had a great weekend lounging around with the doggies. This was our first Christmas together that has been just us. It was also very special because of the SNOW! The dogs ate their toys before we could snap a picture...

My parents were up for an early Christmas last weekend and we also got to celebrate Dad's birthday. Grandma Lois joined them for the ride up and we all drove to Kentucky for the Thompson family Christmas gathering. It was great to spend time with that side of the family and get to meet so many people. The last time I was up there, was ten years ago! Time flies... Thanks to the parents for a great weekend. Too bad it wasn't actually on Christmas day.

February Date Night

Although posting late, we enjoyed a quick dinner at Legends steak
house down in Columbia, TN. Overall the meal was pretty good - but it
doesn't compare to say Del Friscoes in Ft Worth!

Here is the scale: 0 = bad, 5 = Great.

Wait time = 5
Service = 3
Meal overall = 3.8

Average for the meal = 3.9

Woodstock, GA Men's Conference

I spent this past weekend in Woodstock, GA at Woodstock Baptist Church. This was painted live during our worship time. This conference truly was amazing and the underlying message that us men can never hear enough of is the VITAL importance of spending time with God daily and being accountable to other men. It was really encouraging being around 7,500 other men praising and learning about Christ together! I am so blesses to be at a church that believes this and supports it through
action.

Date Night - A New Venture

So Kacey and I are starting this new trend. A monthly feast at some popular local restaurants. We went to Midtown Cafe in downtown Nashville yesterday. If you want to keep up with these, we are going to have a scoring system and at the end of the year we will see who wins. Our rules are simple, enjoy a night out at least once a month, and enjoy a really fancy night out (Dress Up) at least once a quarter.
Here is the scale: 0 = Bad & 5 = Great

We started with lobster ravioli. We gave it a 4.5.
Next was the main course:
Kacey had Crab cakes and broccoli. She gave it a 4.8
I had a 5oz beef filet with scallops and a twice baked potato. Filet = 4. Scallops = 4.5. Potato = 4.5

Average for the meal = 4.46 on the Bell Scale. Not too bad! Thanks Midtown Cafe!

Last day of Deer Season

I was all excited about the last day of deer season today, especially after waiting 3 weeks since I had my surgery. It was only about 22 degrees outside, but no fear, i have many camo clothes to wear. Three of us went, Luke, Ryan and myself. I sat with Ryan at the corner of my favorite field. An hour or so went by an finally the deer came out. We scoped them out for about 30-45 minutes waiting for that perfect shot. I had my sights set on the buck - not a big one, but he was a six pointer. I lined up my shot and fired. Nothing. I was shocked. I took two more shots at him before he ran off, still nothing. I took another shot at the biggest doe that was left, another miss. I found myself in awe and without any bullets left. Now, I don't want to gloat, but I am not a bad shot, earlier last year, I shot a skeet clay at 200 yards with no problem. I told Ryan that something was wrong with my gun, I mean what else could it be? We got packed up to hike out, and I had to shoot at some sort of target to verify I wasn't just missing. I sat up a bottle of water, shot and missed. It hit high. I then aimed about a foot and a half below the bottle and barely hit the top of it. So, there you have it. My gun is out of sight! Moral of the story: Sight your gun in each season so you can enjoy the hunt!

So, after much time of ignoring this blog, we have revamped it in an attempt to keep everyone updated on our life here in beautiful Tennessee. So Erin tagged us and since I have not been very good at updating I decided to participate.
The rule for the tag is to go to your picture folders on your computer and pick the fourth folder and the fourth picture in the folder and explain.
This is where we come to this flashback of the good ole days at Mt. Lebanon. This picutre is from the summer of 1999. Nick had just graduated from SGP and I had just finished my first year at Baylor. Can you find us in the picture?
I am very close to the middle of the picture (I had highlights that summer) and Nick is closer to the left side of the picture in the back standing close to the sign. Mt. Lebanon has held some great summer memories. This was by far the best job I ever had. I worked there for 3 summers and they were all so much fun. Nick and I worked this summer together and some during the year during the off season. We both hold such fond memories of the staff, campers and all the great activities that were involved in the camp. Some of the highlights were: the huge food fight that we had (we used some really gross stuff) , working on a tan as I guarded the pool, Erin putting foil on her tooth so that she looked like her fellow coworker (LaDeen) in the health clinic, Nick learning to back up a huge trailer with a tractor in the woods, Nick loved working the rock wall and having trash duty, having bible studies with the other staffers, Nate, Wendy and I getting the night off so that we could go home and watch the N'Sync concert on TV, Floyd (this is the huge cardboard bear that we fought over one summer), hanging out with the kids, cleaning some really messy and gross cabins on Fridays and most of all Rob Kessler (he was the best boss ever)!!

Pajama Party

Morgan came to spend the night with us last night. She came over revved up and ready to go! We ate pizza, popcorn and watched WALL-E. She did well throughout the movie but had to take a few dancing breaks. She also got to bowl on our new WII game! She wasn't much into the bowling, so she decided to be the team Bell cheerleader. We love when she comes over to spend the night!! We have so much fun and enjoy spending quality time with her!!

Fall Break!

Day 1 - This past week Kacey had her Fall break from school. Not having much else to do, I too took some time off from work. What did we do you ask... Clean the house. You see, we are in somewhat of a battle with our home builder. It took them 4 visits and 1 no show just to fix two HUMONGOUS cracks in the ceiling. In the aftermath a cloud of dust was left covering everything! It doesn't hurt to give the floors a good ole yearly scrub anyway!

Day 2 - We, as good US citizens went and cast our vote early. This was actually my 1st time to vote (Nick). It was quite exciting really, they gave me a free sticker when we were done. We unashamedly voted for the McPalin and Republican ticket. Later on that day, i spent some time working from home (I couldn't help myself)

Day 3 - Saturday!!! I slept in until 6:30 and enjoyed a great cup of Nicaraguan coffee, while doing a little more work from home. Kacey arose at 9:15 and then had her morning workout. After that we had a delightful breakfast. I diddled around in the yard until 11:30, and then went over to my friend Luke's house and uncharacteristically watched a football game. Almost to halftime, I got a call from Kacey because a Vacuum cleaner salesman showed up at the house and wouldn't leave. I came to her rescue while denying the sale of the $2,000 Kirby!!! Later that day we went to a local Pumpkin patch with Luke and Candace. We got a couple really nice ones and had to buy a few of the ugly ones too! We enjoyed dinner at the Mellow Mushroom pizza place.

Day 4 - Was skip church and relax.

Halloween A comin'

Fall is in the air here in Tennessee, so we decided to get the Halloween box out and do a little decorating.

We knew that Sofie had a costume for trick or treating, but Scruff didn't have one. So we have been trying to think of a cute costume that reflects his personality. We came up with: a skunk....(definitely fits his personality), Superman...(he's more of a villain than a hero) a ladybug....(well, I don't want him to get beat up.....and then we saw it - a spider!! Yes, that was definitely him. We bought it and brought it right home. He did really good when we put it on him and it entertains him, too. He is constantly moving around and then trying to catch one of the legs. It's a perfect fit.

Sofie had a Sleeping Beauty costume (yes, that does fit her personality...she sleeps all the time) and we had to get the two of them dressed up for a trial run. Sofie's costume puts her in a very depressed mood. She mopes around the entire time. We'll have to see how she is when she goes around the neighborhood for a walk in it...she is usually a wild maniac on a walk.

We will post some pictures when we take them on Halloween, but here is a preview. Enjoy!!

This weekend was nice for several reasons. My parents, older brother and his dog Reddick came to visit. It was a short trip, but still worth the drive. We had a great time once again trying to find the ever popular Pancake Pantry. Stood in line for an hour and then waited some more for the awesome pancakes. We then headed out to try the Nashville version of the Parthenon. Somehow we found it in a matter of minutes. The rest of the day was spent running around to some old favorites (Rooster Tails) and new attractions (Super Target). They headed out early this morning and have arrived safely. Thanks for the wonderful visit, we are always willing to try and convert people to the Spring Hill way of living.
